Feature wall - how to paint staight lines?

I am currently painting a room which will be cream with a mulberry feature wall. However am no good at painting straight lines. I have got masking tape and have used this on the skirting board but what do I use on the walls without taking off the paint. Any tips appreciated.

do you mean across the room? or down the corner angle?
getting the right tape is essential, the cheap tape is rubbish. try 3M or similar.
and so is the timing of removing the tape.

the trick is to wait a few minutes and then remove the tape. too early and you run the risk of paint running.
too late and the tape can pull dried paint off.
5 minutes is about the max.
    Get some gorm.

I need to paint straight edges down corner angles on both sides and where the wall meets the ceiling.

you dont need masking tape for that.
a big enough brush, loaded correctly with paint and a bit of technique is all you need.

Hi i have done many houses in my time and not long done a feature wall in our bedroom.

I masked off the sides but did the skirting boards by hand..rushed it though so not as neat as could be but being lazy as you cant see any if it as hidden by the bed and bedside units will do though!!

The top still needs doing but haven't done the white yet so leaving..rest of the house has been done though and is fine!

Tape i agree needs about 5 min max and is easier than being carefull!
    Good luck x

Have decided to risk it all in light of all shops being shut and not having enough masking tape for it all. Am going free hand with large brush have only done half of one wall but it does not look bad. It is taking ages but if it turns out alright it will be worth it. Thanks.

From what I understand about cutting in, you do need a long brush to have control - you dont get this with small brushes. Give it a go, whats worst can happen? Do it again?

Ps ive never know a professional dec use masking tape for this.

actually its easier if you do it quick.

    if masking.
pull the tape off at right angles. and keep it at 90 degrees as you pull.

I ended up using masking tape and not a bad finish. Very little touching up to do.
