Hanging Sweet Peas?

I have a pot of sweet pea seedlings and an empty hanging basket, and I was just wondering if they would make nice trailing plants?
Or am I just being daft?
(basically I'm just to mean/lazy to go and buy netting for them and put it up!)

Yes some varieties are better than others, so make sure you get the trailing variety and some varieties like to climb0
