It gives me something to take back to my Mum. Then comes the difficult bit - getting her to listen to me rather than some bandit on commission.
She's not daft, if you give her some written evidence she won't have to listen to you, she can see what's a good deal in black and white
And the conman who sold her on an ISA should be shot  .................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0 -
Reading through the posts sounds like your best bet would be just to stick it in aa internet account. This pays 2.8% with a fixed 2.3% bonus for a year. So will need moving after a year but it allows unlimited withdrawals. I have one and is good.0

My wife is a non taxpayer and we've just opened 3 x TSB Classic Vantage A/cs.
No fees ('cos it's a Classic A/c) and 4% (tax free once you've completed the R85 form) you just have to setup a Standing Order on each A/C to circulate £1000 per month.
Works for us and would for your Mum given her circumstances.

Krafty.
P.S. Sorry forgot to say.. put £7k in each A/c.0
