Hi there, we got a pre-payment meter installed last thursday 25th March, well the story goes,

they installed it with us having no pre-payment card yet, so they put emergency credit in for us.

By the monday still no card and credit had ran out, so they sent an engineer out to put more credit it in to machine. dont ask me how much as i aint got a clue.

So by the thursday it had ran out again but behold the postie delivered the pre-payment card, so off i go to activate the card in machine and put £20 credit on to it.

Stick the card in and get £6 credit, which this morning ran out, with no chance of emergency credit it said its been used.

Can anyone help me understand why so much has been used and why i cant use the emergency credit facility.

Thanks in advance

its because the engineer will have installed either £10 or £12 emergency credit and the 2nd engineer that came to add more money to the meter added another £4 emergency credit. you have got a standing charge build up as well as the standing charge of 44p a day cant take when you are in the emergency credit. the gas meter will take 70% of your top up until the emergency and standing charge is paid back.

so the £14 that was taken from your top up, some of it went towards paying back the emergency credit and part of it went towards paying back standing charge. untill all the engineers emergency credit has been paid back it wont let you use the emergency.
