Can I use the bags that they sell in Tesco? You know, the hessian shopping bags? I have loads of them and some extras I was given from work! I'm guessing not though as they aren't plastic in any way?

Quite a lot of people on this site have mentioned using these bags successfully, the re-useable supermarket hessian types as long as you put some drainage holes in them, I'm still deciding what to put mine in to. Don't forget also a cheap option is rubblesacks/garden sacks or your compost bag,old plastic rubbish bins, rhino tubs etc again these have all been mentioned as good to use on here.
It just goes to show it doesn't have to be expensive!.

    I am planning on using B&Q multi-purpose compost 3 bags for £10

Normally use some of my own compost but ran out when I used it for two raised beds

The bags/seeds I got were from suttons and they have holes in the bags

I wouldn't normally buy them but thought I try them.

I used potato peelings as they grown in compost lol

You can use them but eventually they will rot and they lack drainage holes (though I suppose water will naturally drain out of them).

    Good luck!

ok - going to have a go :D I have a load of the bags so even if it's successful once that will be an achievement for me!

    Cheers for the help.
