new ceiling advise please

I have taken down the ceiling in my kitchen and now it's time to put up a new one. What sort of plaster board should I use? Is it the same as the stuff used for walls with the edges that can be taped? What thickness should be used and what the best way to put it up?

Thanks in advance
Nothing to see here, move along.

Comments

  • Make sure that you use at least 12.5mm thick, The thinners stuff is not so good on ceilings. 12.5mm is heavier to lift inplace but far better.

There is some advice here on how to plasterboarding a ceiling

Bugle headed plasterboard screws hold much better than nails, make sure that the joints are staggered and not all in one line.
