Ltd Co current bank account suggestions

I have been turned down for a Limited Company business account with A&L, they are hinting that it was the credit check. Now my credit rating at present is probably rubbish so what alternatives are there for me opening a company current account?

Is A&L your main banker?
If not go to them first.0 -
For what it's worth, I would always go to a bank where I can have a business manager that I can actually get hold of. One who returns my calls and will agree to see me and actually takes an interest in the business.
A & L are hard to get hold of and their business banking is an 0870 number.
Its alright offering free banking but when you can't get answers when you want them it's not worth a dang.
Most banks offer at least two years free banking to start with. If you can manage to stay in credit you can usually talk them into extending the free banking beyond the two years. Well this has been my experience anyhow. It is unwise to pay too much but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, all you lose is a little money... that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot...it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better (John Ruskin - 19 ctry author, art critic & social reformer)0 -
No my personal bank is the Co-Op and given that 1) I would never hold a business account and private account with the same bank for various reasons, 2) I've recently had to threaten them with court action to get my bank charges back and 3) I don't think they do Ltd Co accounts or if they do they aren't competitive, then I wouldn't approach them.ejones999 wrote:Is A&L your main banker?

baberuth - I've not even been able to open an account, that is the problem. I was going for A&L because I can use the internet and the post office to run the account.A house isn't a home without a cat.

Explains everything nicely.
You are stuffed!0 -
BobProperty, I have suffered the exact same problem. Even to the extent of the Co-operative Bank (oxymoron) as my personal bankers and having to write letter before action to get my charges refunded.
I needed a Ltd Co account, and my credit score is shattered. I used the services of a company who I paid an introduction to that got me a current account with cheque book at Lloyds TSB. If you PM me I will give you their contact details.

There's no need to pay.
Your accountant should be able to introduce you to a number of banks using contacts.0
