Help with bodged soffits and guttering

Looking at a mid-terrace that needs soft-wood soffits and guttering replaced. However on one side the replacement has been done properly and is flush fit, but on the other they've just bodged UPVC cladding over the old wood.
If I was to replace, not sure how to flush-fit soffets and line up the gutters?
