Halifax credit charge reclaim offer received -not happy, what to do next

Options
Hi all,

Just a bit of advice needed

I submitted a claim to halifax for my credit card charges for £1500 back in september last year.

didnt hear anything from them so sent them second letter stating i would accept £1300

Yesterday I received a letter offering me £302.00 and this amount will come off my balance

basically I want to refuse this but I dont know the best course of action to go with.

Do I phone them and tell them I am refusing the offer:

or

Do I go straight to the ombudsman

on the letter they have sent me they havent requested me to phone them they have only enclosed an acceptance form in full and filnal settlement.

As I am in arrears with my card of £300, they have been very clever indeed as this amount will take me back to my credit limit, but i dont want the card. I want the amount i requested.

I am in financial hardship at the moment, how do i do this- any help would be appreciated

thanks

Never accept anything other than 100% of the claim so tell them that you are rejecting it and want 100% or nothing.

Give them a call and see if they will up it over the phone and confirm it in writing, and if they wont then write to them and advise that you are not willing to accept their offer and ask them for their final response. You can then go to the Ombudsman.

I am not a fan of telephone calls on reclaims: because of the "he said/she said" issues but there is nothing that stops you from doing that as the_insider has said.
