Hi,
We have an 11 week old springer spaniel, he is due his next flea treatment next week.
When we got him we were given a 3 month supply of bob martin, which doesn't seem to be working. He has been scratching like mad all week & I have only read bad comments about bob martin on here.
What do use use on your dogs??
Thankyou

I've always used Frontline- just the basic kind- you put the drops on the back of the neck. You can now buy Frontline online (I use Vet-medic) or pharmacy, much cheaper than from vet. Personally I wouldn't buy the things from pet shops, but you could try Johnsons because they make a lot of flea products- I think the ones that were or still are sold by vets are more effective.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Which frontline should I order, the one for the weight he is now or the one for the weight he should be when fully grown??
Thankyou0 -
Bob Martin has a universally bad reputation.
Frontline does not seem to be effective any more.
I presume the Puppy is registered with a vet? Take him along and see what the vet has in stock...stronghold/advantage/advocate...and what they recommend.0 -
He is having his 2nd jab & being microchipped tuesday, so I will write a list of questions for my partner to ask the vet. I cant go unless we drag the kids along & he will probably forget if I just tell him what to ask.
I was thinking of getting 1 pipette from the vet & then asking for a prescription to order more online (if it works out cheaper). We also need to ask about suitable worming treatments.
I will also get him to ask for a prescription for the cats also, as it can be a pain having to go to the vets for more flea treatment when we run out.

A shampoo, or "flea bath" is a good first attack on fleas for the pet that has large numbers of fleas visible on its body. Cats can be difficult to bathe. It is important to realize that a flea shampoo is not intended for lasting control. Many people are surprised when they see fleas and it was "only a week ago" that the pet had a flea bath. Shampoos are only effective for a day or less. They leave little residual chemical on the animal when properly used.0

I use frontline with my animals and have no problems with its effectiveness.
Remember to treat the house with a spray too.Sometimes i like to imagine that im living on the breadline as a single mum with 3 children to feed and clothe, bills to pay and very little time to myself........ then i wake up and realise im a princess with prince charming by my side and a lovely white castle........ oh wait

I haven't had any problems with Frontline either, but some of my friends have bought a combined flea treatment- and that is a p.o.m drug. Be warned that your vet may charge you for a prescription, sometimes so many £££££s that it is not worth shopping elsewhere!
I use Drontal Plus- 1 tablet per 10kgs weight
Frontline- use the size which is applicable to your dog's weight now (or you will overdose!) Both Frontline & Drontal Plus cheaper online or pet supermarket
For free vet advice you can call Vet-medic on Tel: 0800 387348 (and speak to their vet) or e-mail a question via their website.
Good luck!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

If the dog has fleas then the cats probably do too, in which case there is a fair chance your home is infested as most fleas do not actually live on the animal. You may want to ask the vet for a product to treat the home too.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0
