IE8 and dropdown address bar delete icon

Hi Everyone
I have just updated browser to ie8, the only anoying thing that I have come across so far is the delete function when using the dropdown function in the address bar. I keep hiting delete when I mean to select a website- probably because the dropdown arrow is on the right of the address bar, the delete icon is on the right of the address bar and you have to move the cursor to the left side of the address bar to click on the address you want. Is there any way to disable the function?
