makro mail misprint???

I received their special offers in the post valid from 24/3/10 to 6/4/10, on pg39 Aerial laundry liquid 5l actilift reduced from £10.49 to £7.99 great i thought went down on Friday and bought 3. Trusting as I am never checked the receipt until I got home to find I was charged £10.99 ea. So I called Makro in Poole Dorset the receptionist phoned back saying I had picked up the wrong item. So I told her I am looking at the picture and my product and they are the same but its there mistake as the bar code on my receipt doesn't match part of the barcode advertised. I am going back and wanting the difference back on my credit card. Have you any advise that I can use? am I doing this right ?? XX

    What did it say on the shelf next to the product?

    I presume you were buying other stuff at the time if you didn't notice this error?

    If it's a genuine error, I'd say they'd probably offer you a full refund if you return the items!
    Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
    Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

    No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

    makro are famous for advertising products on offer and charging a higher price at the till I had many an arguement with them one time they informed me that the packs of toilet tissue i had picked up were not the same ones as in the picture on the mail untill i turned the pack around and there it was the same picture they were stumped. and another time the bottled water was on offer was the 1.5 litre not the 500ml ones until i pointed out the ad said all ranges. I was in business and i stopped going there in the end and they used to phone me to ask if everything was ok i told them the reason but they didnt seem very interested. :(

    Most printed matter have E&OE printed in the small print (Errors and Omissions Excepted) and companies such as Makro quote it to cover themselves.

    The phrase is used in an attempt to reduce legal liability for incorrect or incomplete information supplied in a contractually related document such as a price list, quotation or specification. It is often applied as a disclaimer in situations in which the information to which it is applied is relatively fast moving. In legal terms, it seeks to make a statement that information cannot be relied upon, or may have changed by the time of use.

    Just taken a look at the back of a MakroMail I have on the desk;

    "Information is correct at time of printing - errors excepted"
    "Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."
