It sounds very much like a spoof email although it seems strange that your cousins registered name is included

Phone paypal and ask them. If this is a scam I haven't come across it before and it well worth researching.

  • YOU COULD ALWAYS FORWARD THE E-MAIL TO SPOOF@PAYPAL.COM AND THEY WILL LOOK INTO IT AND LET YOU KNOW IF IT IS REAL OR NOT.

Using your real or user name isn't a failsafe method for identifying spoofs anymore - some of them are getting more convincing.

try log in to paypal and see if it lets you in - if it has been a genuine email then there will be a "limited account" put on to the account so you will know if it is genuine ornot )

It is genuine. I had to do this in November 2004. My email said something about dealing with someone on FSA blacklist. I could never get to the bottom of it all I had done was sell a few pairs of football boots, but as I had about £200 in my account I had to do it to unlock my account.
