Are Premier Inn and Holiday Inn the same company?

I'm staying in Cardiff for one night due to a friends wedding. The wedding is at a Best Western and all the rooms have gone. The next closest hotel is a Premier Inn.

Hi, I know my dad can get a friends and family discount at the Holiday Inn as he works there. But can he get that at Premier Inn too? He'll be in bed so I thought I'd ask here. If he definitely can't I will book it now but if he might I will get him to book it tomorrow.

Nah they're seperate companies - Holiday Inn is Intercontinental Group and Premier Inn is owned by Whitbread.

No - definitely not. I'm ex-Premier Inn staff so can say that for sure - HI is Intercontinental Hotels and PI is owned by Whitbread.
