Does anyone know if it can be layed flat being used as opposed to being stood up?

Yes it can, the Wii also comes with a holder which allows you to stand the Wii which is really good especially as when it gets warm from playing on it for so long the floor could get heated.0

Thanks we have a tv on a shelf under the tv on the wall and could only have it lying down as opposed to standing.
