LCD TV Gone To Heaven

My 32" JT Hannspree LCD TV seems to have gone to heaven. All had seemed fine, although it's not a great TV, however since yesterday we get sound but no picture. Tried unplugging, different cables etc etc, but still the same. It's only around 2 1/2 years old. What are the lifespan of these things, is that normal? Checking on google there seems to be quite a few LCD's with this problem. Also asking on the off chance, is this somthing claimable on the contents insurance? It wasn't dropped or in an accident, I don't intend to lie, just wondering if there is a possibility of going down this route. It's really bad timing as we are in the process of paying off a holiday! I guess this my own fault for being a cheap make, it was £290 at the time, however i would have still wished for a longer period of time than 2 1/2 years.
Any help, advice, commiserations or tough love feedback much appreciated,
Stu

My personal opinion is thats not bad for a cr*p tv. Somone will probably come on here saying you can throw the SOGA at the retailer, but I doubt youd get anywhere with it:idea:0

Doubt you could claim anything for this. Chalk it down to experience, and don't buy such crappy brands in future.poppy100

It isn't just " crappy " brands that die at this age, there are a lot of reports of Sony's and Panasonic's doing similar.0

You pay for what you get. This plus some common sense. Simple.0

It's worth contacting the retailer to see what they say I guess - and then the manufacturer.
I don't think you'll get far but you might as well try.0
