CC, PPI & unemployment

I've no idea whether this is in the right place or not so feel free to move somewhere more suitable.
My employers have recently spoke to me about voluntarlity leaving the company. Not so much being sacked but pretty much the same thing (if I don't leave voluntarily I would be sacked anyway). I have a card with about £3k on it and with PPI cover and another with £950 but no PPI. If I leave voluntarily my PPI won't cover repayments so I'm stuck paying something I can in no way, shape or form afford. I have looked for other jobs but there's is nothing going I can do. I'd rather leave my job sooner rather than later as I am finding my job increasingly difficult due to health reasons (my specialist won't sign me off though) and I've had other health problems which have reduced the amount of time I've been at work which is one of the reasons they'd like me to go.
My only issue is I'd only get JSA I'm not eligible for anything else (other than housing and council tax) so I'd be paying out around £100 more than I can afford.
I'm in an awkward situation as I don't want to torture myself at a job I neither enjoy nor capable of doing anymore. Does anyone have any ideas about this???

voluntary redundancy is probably not covered by PPI... it's an insurance product, you choose to be made redundant.
However afaik they can't tell you that if you don't choose redundancy then they will sack you. That must be illegal... that's blackmail.0 -
In a better explanation, I've missed around 6 months worth of work in the last year. I was told I can choose to go or it can go the long way which is months then be sacked. As I told them I wanted to leave but couldn't due to debts & rent to pay I was given the option that they could arrange for me to be paid off before that. If they had gone down the proper disciplinary route reg my absence record I would probably have been sacked by now.0

You cant claim JSA after leaving work on your own accord surely? Is a Bipolar bear

You can, but may have to wait up to 26 weeks before you get anything.Starting Debt: ~£20,000 01/01/2009. DFD: 20/11/2009 :j
Do something amazing. GIVE BLOOD.0 -
I was hoping that wasn't gonna be the case. I knew it was 26 wks if i just walked out hence why I ain't done that. It's gonna be fun being stuck in a job where I'm not wanted or want to be til they get rid of me.0

Why not suggest to your employer that you'll sign a compromise agreement confirming that you will not contest a decision to make your position redundant. They make you redundant with whatever payout you're entitled to, and as it's 100% their decision to make you redundant you're like anyone else who's made redundant.
When I've used compromise agreements with employees in the past, there's been a financial incentive for the employee - normally an untaxed payment in lieu of notice."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
Dont go voluntarily. You won't get any JSA for six months and your PPI won't apply because you would have resigned voluntarily. Let them make you redundant instead.0
