Letter from LL's mortgage company

I'll double check the contact details, thanks for the heads up.0

Could be a repo *with* consent to let, however. Lender would need to contact tenant to find out AST details to organise continuation of tenancy with lender as LL?0

I had a letter like that when I was renting. They were repossessing the house, though luckily for us we were already looking fro a new house because the LL wanted to sell up. LL was a bit of a nightmare and I then took great pleasure in informing the estate agent that he was trying to sell his house whilst it was in the process of being repossesed :whistle:0

Was it addressed directly to you or to 'The Occupier'? I'd imagine the mortgage lender doesn't care who is renting the property (assuming it is buy-to-let) so wouldn't want their details.0

It was addressed to 'the occupier.'0 -
Thanks, same as mine then. I'm now wondering if other flats in the building got, or will be getting, the same letter.0

From Shelter:Your landlord's lender may try to repossess the property you are renting if your landlord does not keep up with their mortgage payments. If this happens, you may have some protection from eviction if your tenancy is binding on the landlord's lender. If not, your options will be more limited.
http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/repossession/repossession_by_a_landlords_lenderSince April 2009, lenders are required to send a letter to the property addressed to 'the ocupiers', informing everyone who is living at the property of the date of court hearing. They have to do this within five days of the hearing date being confirmed by the court. You should therefore always open post addressed to 'the occupiers' - do not assume that it is junk mail!0 -
Very useful, thank you.
I wish I was able to deal with this earlier today, I grabbed my mail as I was leaving so didn't have time to act on anything.
As an aside, this forum is full of the most helpful people I've ever had contact with. Thank you all for your information.0 -
I've checked it all out and the letter seems legitimate. The phone number it requests me to call matches the one on the website. I won't be able to call until Tuesday because they're not open.
Slightly frustrating, I just hope it isn't anything that will stress me too much.0 -
Prob best to stop paying the rent, although I know I'll get jumped on for saying that.poppy100
