I only take £75.00 pm of eldest daughter, partly because OH said he would reduce my money by the amount of her board and I'm blowed if she is going to subsidize him!!!!0

When I was still living at home i paid £150 per month and that included absolutley everthing. I was/am spoiled rotten :T That included all my food/washing/ironing/pack lunches etc
When I moved back last year with the kids I paid £400 per month as well as a £70 weekly shop every fortnight. Mum and I took turn about with this.
Whe I moved out again I got the whole amount I paid each month back to allow me to buy a new kitchen.

A small addition.
I assume you have fed, clothed and sheltered the lad since birth. You're in financial trouble which is at least slightly his responsibility.
Charge him what you like until you're comfortable then put his contribution into a savings account."Gold is the money of kings; silver is the money of gentlemen; barter is the money of peasants; but debt is the money of slaves." - Norm Franz0 -
My daughter moved back in after splitting with her boyfriend nearly two years ago. She pays £220 per month which we agreed on to enable her to clear debts run up by her !!!!less ex OH. She is nearly debt free now but looking to find her own place. She knows and appreciates that she is well off and does her share of washing and housework. She also does her own ironing as I have enough of my own to do.:T
Swampy:T:TExpect the worst, hope for the best, and take what comes!!:o0 -

I used to charge my son 1/3 of the running cost of the house! - which took 3/4 of his income! and I put it in the bank and saved for his deposit on his first home, but I never told him that until I gave him deposit and told him he'd saved every penny himself by going without - it's the best lesson I;ve ever taught him0

I used to give my mum 1/3 wages for board, save 1/3 and have the remaining 1/3 for me. Seemed to be fair as I can see that what my mum charged me and what she did it was very cheap! She saved it all up and used it to help pay towards my wedding!0
