No internet on laptop

Typing this on phone. Logged off laptop as normal last night, but today my USB connected copperjet modem is showing a red light instead of a green one for ADSL (it's green for USB), so can't connect to net. Have checked all connections, which seem fine.

I'm with Orange Broadband. Any ideas please?

Thanks for the number Browntoa, but how about this?...

I pressed 1 for Broadband service updates, and a recorded message told me it was an update for Thursday 1st April, they are not aware of any problems, thank you, goodbye... and cut me off!

Sorry, phone only allows short replies.

So that's a bit of a shambles at their end isn't it? Looks like they've all taken Easter off.

Oh well, just have to keep trying.

try unplugging the whole lot and then power it back up

swap out the adsl filter plug in case its failed

try plugging into the test socket on the main BT socket

Oh excellent, don't know what I did (not a lot) but just tried switching on again and I have two green lights :).

Either Orange have sorted it out, or me yanking on the modem prior to trying what you suggested has done the trick!

Many thanks as always for your speedy help.

Well it took half a boat race to wake this thing up, but at least I'm back on it. Not out of the woods yet (reckon there must be some virus problems slowing things down) but at least I'm online. Phew!
