It is time for the Firewalker household weekly update. Apart from me being a terribly short tempered harpy all is well (poor OH is not that happy with me shouting all the time but ...).
Yesterday we booked a ticket for my sister to come and visit and the whole family is very excited. I remember the talk about taking other people’s monkeys and I probably collect monkeys as some collect shells on the beach - effortlessly. My sister has monkeys and I do take them – but I believe that with families tending to each other’s monkeys is a must. She will come and stay as long as she wishes – like in a Jane Austin novel. It will be a well deserved respite from all the looking after she did in the last four years or so – she looked after parents. Also, she will teach DS3 Bulgarian – it is part of his heritage and I have no right to deprive him from it.
Today we did the weekly shopping for next week and it came to an entirely surprising £22.30. This is certainly not what we live on but all the stocking up is paying off. Particularly given that we have a freezer full of ready (home cooked) meals like orange pork, beef stew, soups, sweet and sour pork etc. My budgeting tool is working swell – is anyone is interested to try it out it is on my blog under ‘Tools and exercises’.
I am also doing acceptably well on my challenge – running, walking and cycling 2,000 miles in the next 12 months. Last week I have run and walked 25.24 miles (and this is after forgetting to have my Nike+ some of the time).
I have packed and am ready to hit the road tomorrow – going to the Italian lakes for a meeting. Nice place, pity about the meeting but then one cannot have it all. Will use the time to do some long overdue planning and changes on the blog, and to get on with the article for uppity magazine. Thank goodness I can do more than one thing at the time – let’s see whether I can write and listen (two different things) at the same time.
Keep safe people; earn some money pay some negative wealth.

After an almost uneventful journey I am here - in a nice hotel, in a small town called Ranco on the shore of lake Maggiore. The weather is absolutely horrid - left sunny Manchester this morning and landed in a rainy, grey Milan. Still worth it - had a nice walk in the dark on roads without pavements but around the lake.
Let me now get back to the 'almost uneventful' bit...Thing is that there was a very rude awakening for me today. The airplane was one of these small things - and it was a propeller to boot. During the flight I needed to go to the bathroom and you know what - I could just about fit in but without my hand bag. Yes, I know the bathroom was really tiny but still...I would like to be able to get in tiny spaces again and feel comfortable about it. Is it time for dinner yet?

Do you know what is the worst thing about boring meetings? It is not the tedium, not the regret of passing time that you will never get back, not the annoyance and jumpiness. It is eating too much - at least for me. I suppose when I am really bored with absolutely way out some self distruct mechanism kicks in and I start eating; the more sugar in what I am eating the better. A form of suicide, really.
The only thing that has been keeping me going during this last two days is these reflections - I may just end up writing an essay entitled 'On the Ways to Survive Boredom: Italian Food as slow suicide'.
OMG, I just commited a murder! The biting !!!!!!! completely deserved it - a fly but not any ol' fat British one. This was an agile, hungry and vicious Italian one. Dead!
Now time for some more food; I have not eaten a thing for all of two hours!
My friends, it is time to go back home; it is time for a fast...

I wish - this is my dream size bag. But no, my bag is really small and dandy but the bathroom was so small; I wonder what bigger people do?
I have been stuck in the toilet on an airplane that could not land because of that but the reason was a faulty lock. Getting stuck because the toilet is small is a topic for a story.

Who would have thought it? I am staying with the motocycle, though - knitting and gardening is where I draw the line. I am open to learning pole dancing, mind (my imagination is improving, you see).
