oh dear Tricia, about the Stomach
was it resolved?0 -
I thought that 'weak' here meant in an economic sense only. For example we discuss people's earning 'power'. Children, the elderly, unwell people lack in conventional earning power. Therefore the state supports them in different ways. It is worth pointing out that we have all been young and 'weak' and we will all be old and 'weak'. Although I agree the word has negative connotations and maybe there is a better one. Of course this idea of earning power is also a generalisation, as people when old, young or sick can also have different resources to draw on.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0

Hmmmm. Turning into an interesting and thought provoking debate? Well, it sent me into a thoughtful state, yesterday.
It just goes to show how many interpretations of the written word, phrase or essay, there can be. Or the tone it may or may not, be written in.
So. I've now googled weak.

3) Not able to resist external force or onset; easily subdued or overcome

Just to make matters a bit more complicated (as if they are not already) it is not only 'weak' or 'vulnerable' members of society who can do with support. Strong, powerful people, who are well on their way to transform their own lives and the lives of their communities also can do with help and support.
And it requires a lot of strength and determination to ask for and accept support.
So...
On a different topic entirely, just came back from an hour run - very hard. It is so hot and humid here that I almost passed out down the Mersey.

2 years later - emergency hysterectomy. :rotfl::rotfl:

I think that is SO true. So . . . which are the more truly 'strong' - those who think they can transform their lives without help or those who are labelled 'weak' but have the strength to ask for help?
As we say in our house "There's a PhD in there somewhere."
I did say the mind is tricky. But how can you know what you want till you get what you want and you see if you like it?0 -

oh dearwish Drs would listen to us when we say we think there is something wrong.
I took DS to the Drs 18 months ago, "I think something is wrong". "No, he has worms....." "NO he does not have worms! I want a referral to a dermatologist." 18 months later I have a diagnosis and he does have something wrong, not worms, and not curable. But at least I know what it is and can deal with it.0 -
Have you noticed that I write less about money and more about life generally? Or do I?
It is true that I have not updated on our situation for some time now. I used to post an update every week and one at the end of every month. And it is also true that I have not done this for several months now. But the reason is not that I have become less determined or that I have become less interested in matters of money and controlling it. Quite the reverse, in fact, as anyone who visits my blog can attest. But the focal point of my interest has shifted because I realised that there is very little ‘personal’ and very little ‘finance’ about ‘personal finance’. Controlling money is not about money itself but about the flows of it – it comes into my life and it leaves it. What is important, is the level of awareness we have about this flow and the level of discretion we exercise (as knowledge, judgement and action).
This is why I have been writing about other aspects of life: about frogs and frogology; about effectiveness and efficiency; about work and choices; about spending and choices; about changing my life; and about the little happening that make all this real.
I am thinking about balance, about ‘just enough’ and ‘just right’.
The rest is going well. Our negative wealth is down to about £55,000 (from about £100,000) in eighteen months and will be mostly gone by Christmas; we have a small emergency fund that makes me feel secure; we are together...and this is it.
Still, most of what I write is about money – but not money as I used to see it.
I am in a very strange mood...off to watch a movie or something. Good night.

Money and life are interwoven. You seem to have a balance that makes reading what you write much more interesting than if you just banged on about the 'facts' of money. Yes, you make us think, but you have also inspired me (and probably others), to act, and that is priceless!
Congratulations on the negative wealth figures - that is amazing!Sealed pot Challenge 2011 member No 1241 - Final total £154.21

Nothing seems to be right today. About a year ago I would have 'externalised' this - and blamed whatever I could think of. But things have changed and I am aware that what is not right today is me - I feel fairly down again and negative tapes have been starting to run through my head.
Henry Ford said 'Whether you think you can or you can't - either way you are right.' Today I am more inclined to think that I can't.
Probably need a run.
