moped insurance for 16 year old

Just spent at least 4 hours trawling the Internet for quotes. Difficulty being my son has bought a brand new unregistered Chinese bike which many companies are refusing to insure as it is not yet registered (yes I know ... we should have checked this out first!) Finally got a decent quote around £270 from Rampdale.com. and the cover gives me 27 days within which to register the bike. Hallelujah; :j I seem to have been going round in circles all morning , no registration ... no insurance ... no insurance ... no registration ...etc etc
Hope this helps someone in a similar predicament

Don't worry too much it will probably be knackered within a month anyway.Nothing to see here, move along.0 -
Get the dealer to register it for you?0

You dont need insurance to register it, only to tax it, which you can do later.
My mate wanted one to much around with & found out he could get then cheaper from china, He had to buy a minimum of 3 though. He built & registered the other 2 without insuring them.
He barely covered his costs & wont try that again. Need to order at least 25 to start making a profit.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Unfortunatly I agree with this statement, I havent owned one but I was put off by the almost one sided argument against Chinese bikes0 -

Things must have changed ad the DVLA sent my husband home without registration last week because he had not got insurance.0 -

That's what my dad thought of japanese bikes 30 years ago .... he now accepts they are among the best in the world (nothing would ever surpass a Triumph though).
I know the chinese ones are not going to be an heirloom, frankly he just needed a moped that would get him to and from school for the next year. Went for the Skyteam with enduro style tyres due to state of roads where we live!!0
