buildings insurance

It appears from my recent survey of several insurers, and reading the small print of the insurers that they will not insure 'on-line' if you have more than 20% of your total roof area as flat felt asphalt roof.
It appears you need to phone for a quote!
I live in a cottage and have a total roof area of 46sq mts. The main slate roof represents 58% of the total area and the extension at the rear with 42% flat roof. This now seems to be causing a problem.
Anybody encountered this problem of of buildings insurance in the past?

Yet another problem with buying online without advice (or via a call centre with unqualified agents)
A popular question is
" is the property brick or stone built with tile or slate roof"
If you have a flat roof extension you really should not answer that question with a "yes"Any posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0 -
