Bluetooth dongle installation problem

I have a Belkin Model F8T009 Bluetooth dongle (I bought it a few years ago), which I want to use to transfer music/pictures onto mobile phones.

I'm using a Vista PC. I have downloaded the drivers for the dongle from the Belkin website, and it seems to install no problem, but when I try to send say a song from my PC to a phone, (Right click>Send to>Bluetooth device), a box comes up as if to search for devices, but most of it is greyed out, and no devices appear in the box.. I only have the 'Cancel' option.

When I search on the Tocco light phone, it picks up the PC bluetooth (and I can 'pair' it to the PC), but I can't get it ot 'browse files' or anything. (but this seems to work on my samsung U600).

I want to be able to send from PC to phone mainly(son getting Tocco light for B.day soon), but no matter what I try it won't work.

Can anyone help?

Is this dongle a lost case, and I should just get a new one?

I could never get my Belkin bluetooth dongle to work on XP or Vista, until I downloaded the Toshiba bluetooth stack.

I now use Windows 7 which just works out of the box.

I ended up getting this dongle -

    http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/10823913/Edimax-Mini-BlueTooth-V2-1-USB-Dongle/Product.html

.. but I'm still having problems.

I installed the mini disk software that came with the dongle, and it all seems to have installed correctly, but when I try to send a file from my PC to a phone, it keeps saying 'connection failed'.

Is there something that I havent 'ticked' ot 'unticked'?.. sorry I don't know much about setting these things up.

What about if you send a file from your phone to your computer.I know you did it with the other bluetooth dongle. They had the same bluetooth dongle in the £1 shop the other day.

why not stry the pc software that comes from the phone manufacturer? I use both nokias and sony-eriksson on both vista and 7 via bluetooth with no problems.

+1 for the above suggestion, I'm not that up on phones, but I've heard others complaining that, the latest phones seem to only work with the respective software.

A few years ago you just connected the phone and it appeared as a removable drive, this no longer seems to be the case with all phones.
    Move along, nothing to see.
