My Hermes broken in transit

I decided to give My Hearmes a go while sending a lot of VHS tapes an Ebay buyer had won. They got there ok but the buyer said a lot of the cases were broken in transit. As they are VHS tapes with sturdy plastic cases I never thought that they would end up in that state. They are a private courier and in competition with Royal mail which is why I thought they would have taken more care.
All I have is a number ref the courier gave me on pick up. What can I do to complain ?

There have been a number of threads both on MSE and ebay community boards about problems with myhermes. It may be worth doing a search and finding out how others complained0

You can't rely any carrier taking care with a parcel, you have to package adequately to avoid damage.
There have been posts about My Hermes but I'm afraid all carriers will refuse to pay out if the packaging was not good enough.
Still worth a try, though. You need to ask your buyer to keep all of the packaging as the carrier is likely to want to see this if you make a claim.
You also need to think about refunding your buyer. Keep in touch with them and maybe offer a partial refund although these can be problematic. You don't want to end up with poor feedback.0 -
I'm confused Martin the OP never said that the items weren't packaged adequately just that they got damaged. So wondering how you came to this conclusionYou can't rely any carrier taking care with a parcel, you have to package adequately to avoid damage.

Bob, maybe I'm jumping to conclusions. The OP talked of the videos being in sturdy cases - from this I assumed he thought they didn't need much packaging.
Perhaps the OP will give us more info.0
