Thanks for your replies. I also have an MBNA credit card as well as the Abbey/MBNA, but they were quite reasonable when I spoke to them and offered to suspend all late/overlimit charges for 3 months while I sort it out with CCCS. Maybe it just depends on who you speak to and what mood they're in?

RMA / NCO have a registered national / lo call rate number of 01772 765 000 listed.
I have also noticed they send out 1 letter, closely followed by another and then demand to show up at your home without prior agreement. They rarely answer phones and it is impossible to leave messages for them either.
These tactics are used to scare you into paying.
I have been trying to contact them on the number they provide but have been on hold each time and then disconnected. I plan on trying their registered number - see if that gets me anywhere.
As they work on behalf of MBNA - you'd have assumed that MBNA would contact you first, don't hold your breath. Even if you pay MBNA - RMA will still chase you.
RMA are jackals tearing at the soft under belly of our society and use any and all means (legal or otherwise) to get the money they say you owe.
I'll keep you posted.0 -
MBNA harrassed me to the point I was in hospital (pregnant at the time)...when they were politely told to take a step back they basically said they didn't give a stuff about mine or my baby's wellbeing as they "didn't need this.." As in, they didn't need the 'stress' of not getting the amount of money they were asking for.
They threatened court action so many times. I just kept telling them to go ahead and take me to court..in the end they agreed to MY terms of what I could afford to pay them.

After attempting to contact them for several day, I finally used their landline number. I was constantly placed on hold.
Eventually when my call was answered, a rude little idiot called "John" told me that I would just have to wait like everyone else and he didn't care how long I had been waiting twasn't him that owed the money. Cheeky lil so and so. It was only for £44 aswell!!!
Finally I demanded to speak to his manager and no he couldn't put me on hold. His manager was more agreeable and apologised for the delay but said he was unable to deal with my request as the debt depatment was another department entirely and "worked by their own rules".
I threatened to report them to the FSA and Trading Standards due to the way they operate their company and the tactics they employ in addition to their lack of customer services I would also lodge criminal proceedings against them for harrassment and stress caused which would also open the door to me claiming compensation from the company directly.
He assured me I would get a call back in 5 minutes and he was right I did.....amazing how thier tone changed.....still lodging complaints anyway as they shouldn't get away with it!0 -
Well done.
