Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Saturday 3rd April. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.

Morning peeps

raining again this morning but its a lot warmer outside, hope that it brightens up a bit later on. I`ve not seen the weather forecast yet but am hoping for some sun.

Wo*k again today and it seemed very quiet when i left the house, there`s usually a few other cars around but today i`ve seen only one - guess everyones still in bed lucky b***ers.

Bitsy - Oh how i long for the old times when we got paid double time and a day off in lieu, these days its normal pay for bank holidays and if you are lucky enough to get one off then it comes out of the yearly leave allowance.

Julie67 - Glad that you are getting everything sorted out, it must be such a relief for you

Candygirl - Boo looks lovely and very happy.

JC - Did you make it?

This morning i`ve put the washing machine on and filled the dishwasher and put that on too, DH is at w*rk today too but will empty them both whan he gets up so that saves me a job later. All i need to do besides some cooking later is to run around downstairs with the hoover. I`ve sucessfully ignored the ironing pile for several days now :D i shall have a quick sort through it and see what i can put away.

Well w*rk beckons so i shall love you and leave you for now.

Have a lovely day everyone.

SD
Planning on starting the GC again soon :p

Morning. Feels cold and wet down this way, I remember Easter holidays one year that hit 70 or so....
No idea what to do today. Spent too much yesterday on luxury food, so feel bad about going out even.
I never buy real Bailey's but ended up with a litre bottle from Sainsbury at £9. I did have a voucher for £12 off a 60 shop, so thought it to be my free item... But then there was the 2 legs of lamb for Easter Sunday, Steak for my son's birthday tea, etc..... Ouch.

Bank holiday and there was pure rubbish on TV last night.......

Well, need to find something exciting to do today..... cheers
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

    morning Sunnyday/ n9eav :D

raining again here in yorkshire  tried to get in the garden yesterday but it was too wet :(
on the plus my little seedlings are doing really well , they are in my mini green house and they are as warm as toast :)

Sunnyday I know what you mean about the old times being paid for working bank holidays, I didnt realise they had stopped all that now, I am assuming you work for the NHS ;)

I joined the gym this week , DD1 (16) joined a few months ago and has been pushing for me to join too. ( lets face it I need some toning up :o) but what swung it was if I joined, DD2 ( 14) is allowed to join too and she was desperate to go , so later on will be my first session ( of course I am expecting to have lost a stone and have muscles like popeye after half an hour ;)

    need to tidy up today
went shopping yesterday so have plenty in, Mr T's was incredibly busy you would have thought the shops were shutting for at least a week over easter

    scrambled eggs for breakfast
    sandwich for lunch
chicken and veg stir fry for tea

hope everyone has a lovely easter weekend xx

    HI everyone,

Work for me this morning, we now work every first Saturday of the month to open the office for residents. I don't think many will come to day, they'll think we're not open. I don't get paid at all for any extra hours I do, I have to take them in lieu. Other staff would get double time and a day off if they worked a Bank Holiday (not that today is a BH).

Sistercas, good luck at the gym. I've just bought a used ijoy machine. it's nt arrived yet but I'm hoping it will improve my balance and my stomach an back muscles without having any impact on my legs and feet, whch are often very sore. It's one of those riding machine and I'll probably look totally ridiculous, DH thinks the idea is hilarious.

I've got to start being really OS because DH has agreed that if we can live on his salary alone for the next 6 months I can leave work early next year. It should be easily do-able, we spend far too much on unecessary things at the moment.

Today we will be having chilli for dinner, we always have it with bread rolls, not rice. I must also tackle the ironing mountain while watching the big match and keep one eye on Facebook to see if DD has posted, it's a great way to check if she's ok without actually contacting her, or making her contact us. She needs to post her latest blogas well.

    morning all

Sunnyday Not yet! I am having a day tomorrow of cooking, baking and eating so it's on the agenda for then - I did a quick check last night to make sure I had everything in to make it and I do :D

I'm feeling much more like myself today.....not quite sure who I was feeling until now :rotfl:
Plans for today include a few MS jobs (again nothing taxing) I shall look longingly again as we drive past the new Lakeland store....one day I'll be afford to go in! :D

I've straightened up the kitchen (Twins came in hungry last night and the kitchen took a beating by the look of it....) DW is on and the dry clothes have been folded. I have coffee, dizzy tablets and painkillers DD had a cup of milky tea and a kinder egg....she helped herself to breakfast lol

DS1 has his car almost repaired so wanted the insurance sorting on it. The cheapest quote that I have... £320..... A MONTH . He really has no choice but to pay it. but is there any wonder why kids drive with no insurance when it is so ridiculously high? Luckily with his new job he is earning enough to afford it but it means a massive chunk of his wages every month before he even gets in the car!

Need to do my meal plan and see what shopping I need to pick today so I'll do that now then attack the living room.

I seem to have gone on a bit.....Have a good day!

    Good Morning.
Well the washing machine is on and whirring away as I have tons of washing to do from DD trip to the seaside. She is really happy at college now and seems to have a great group of friends so Im very happy. I have decided that I have to look out for things that make me happy instead of those that make me worried or anxious. My DS2 is off to Germany on Wednesday on his History trip. His sole intention is to bring back every type of Harib*o sweet he can lay his hands on and pay for of course. So i need to help him organise himself for this too. Expensive month with trips:eek:

Im going shopping with my eldest son today as he needs some proper trainers for his rehab with physio. I dont think he is awake yet as he was in very late last night. I still have to make my easter cakes and tea is an italian sausage bake. So hopefully I will get those made later. Have a lovely day...university boat race....OXFORD!!!!!!! (Went to Uni there!)
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all
Damp & overcast here today, living room is being put back together, fishtank needs a good scrub, we bought new stones for it yesterday. I've emptied all the carp out of the wall unit & want the rooom to look like a showhouse, well til the weekend is over, lol.
Hubby is watching the F1 qualifier with a plate of cold sausages & a bacon sarnie. I cooked a piece of beef yesterday & am cooking gammon today, it will all be sliced & used for sarnies & other meals this weekend, not sure if any family are popping over, there will be plenty of food if they do.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning.
Sun trying to shine but feels cold and I think rain will hit us again later.
Everything soggy and muddy but kids want to get out somewhere so will have to go somewhere for a walk with the wellies :D
Not much OS going on. Again. Need to do some cleaning. H did the ironing yesterday. I want to make some more cinnamon buns as they were delish.

Not sure what's for tea - meal planning gone out of the window this week for some reason. Oh silly me I got a ham joint out of the freezer yesterday so need to put that on in the SC. Perhaps mash, peas and pickle for tea :D

Gym? What's one of those?!!! The only time I have free for exercising is when the kids are asleep around 9pm at night. And that is normally the last thing I want to do at that time of night :rotfl: Hence the reason why my weightloss is pretty non existant :o

Molly - nice to see you posting again. I don't always have any OS to post (never mind positive OS) but these lovely ladies and gents are like friends and they always manage to make me feel better with their hugs and words of advice. Honestly I'd be lost without this thread. Get more housework done mind but still be lost ;)

jc - when i was 22 I had a quote for 3rd party insurance on a 1600cc Golf (so no GTi's or anthing). £1100 a MONTH! Despite me having driven far longer than my H it was cheaper for him to insure it in his name than mine. Madness <rant over>

snoozer - good news on finishing work early :)

Have a lovely Saturday OS or not. Hugs to those that need them.

Just caught up on yesterdays thread

    Butterfly
    - did you give Kennie the Kenwood a good workout?
    Julie67 - good news!
    Stroppyjock - fingers crossed x
Molly41 - so its the washing pile you'll be popping out from behind today? :D I remember a time in my life that was so horrendous I had to force myself to look for the good thing in everyday. Some days it was just that the sun was shining. Another day it was good that it was raining as the ground needed it. Life changed for me completely at that time and was incredibly painful emotionally. It was for the best - I see that now but I couldn't see past the gloom then. Try and see the good thing today xx
Candygirl - Boo is a cutie! our DD got called Boo when she was small and my Mum actually sent her first birthday card addressed to 'Miss Katie Boo'
Jellybaby that sounds like a great idea, also get into reasonably priced wedding make-up as its hard to find some-one who will do a good job for a price that won't cause bankruptcy. I was lucky last year to find a professional make-up artist who turned out to be the gayest bloke in Belfast and he was amazing!. My make-up was still in place the next morning! (I know how scutty am I? - didn't even get a wash just collapsed!)
N9eav Mmmmmm Baileys *drools* I mix it with milk to make it a 'long' drink. Sounds disgusting but don't knock it til you've tried it!

I must be feeling better after complaining for two weeks that I felt permanently p!ssed ....... I fancy a drink! :rotfl:

jc has your son tried getting a quote for his insurance with himself as main driver and either you or his dad as a named driver. That brought our son's insurance down quite a lot for some reason. It's quite handy too that DH can drive it occasionally (we swapped cars this weeks so that DS could get to work while his was being MOT'd and serviced).
