Latest RoS, Scotland Prices Rising Strongly......

What I don`t understand is Hamish has this total obsession with house prices in Aberdeen. Why? Is it a Scottish thing? Don`t think so. Talk to plenty of Scottish people and none of them say " Oh, by the way, ach, I see houses in Portknockie are up 0.3% this month hen ".
Because he lives there?
Aren't you interested in prices in your neighbourhood?0 -
Why does he think anyone else is though? Nobody wants to live, visit or hear anything about Aberdeen. It's a cold, miserable, depressing dump with people like Hamish living there.0

Do you people also go on to forums about football and complain that no one cares about football? Do you go to forums about music and moan that music is rubbish?
I'm getting a bit bored of the people that come to the house price and economy forum and moan about threads about house prices and the economy tbh. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Have you ever been to Aberdeen?
I've lived there and think it is a fantastic place to live / bring up a family.
It can be cold at times, but you get used to it.
It's certainly not miserable, there is plenty of happy friendly people with a much higher consideration for others than I've personally seen in some other areas.
With a relatively strong economy, high standards of living and relatively good value for money it's certainly not depressing.
I'm wondering if you believe it is the way it is down to your wish to berate Hamish:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

Coming from someone that lives in the countries biggest dump, I can only take your opinion with a pinch of salt.
Living in the Scottish country side vs living in an overpopulated 'foreign' city where quality of life is of a poor standard and the majority of people are stuck up, rude and/or arrogant. I'll choose the Scottish countryside thank you.
Londoners are like Yanks, they refuse to believe another world exists outside their own parameters.
The place is such a dump... http://news.stv.tv/scotland/145408-aberdeenshire-is-best-place-to-live/
Oil wealth and affordable housing makes quality of life for the average person far better than that of the rubbish tip you call home. I can earn £55-60k working at Aberdeen airport or £65-70k working at Heathrow. Considering house prices and the cost of living I am much better off up here. For example, I just purchased a nice 5bed detached home set in a very nice area for £385k. Down your way, it would have been at least £650k. (Hence my point about quality of life, I'd have to settle for a poxy 2bed terrace down your way
)
Scottish people have always been known for their welcoming and friendly nature, Londoners however have always been known to be rude, abnoxious and full of arrogance:p
I know where I'd rather bring up my children.
(I have to point out though that I agree this Aberdeen thing is becoming very tiresome. I'm personally sick fed up of hearing of the place aswell. Hamish is doing himself no favours should things turn the other way)0 -

Strangely, most of them have only started moaning about house price threads since house prices started rising.
Wonder why......:rotfl:“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
