good evening, we are looking at redoing our bathroom, previous suite basic £250 from focus, loo & basin no problems but bath has been a mare with movement despite being reset twice.
can anyone recommend a good quality suite/range that wont break the bank? what is it that makes dearer suites better quality? Sorry to sound dim but one white suite looks the same as another to me

We have replaced 2 bathroom suits. (one with a bath). There is probably a difference in the porclain on the loo and sink but we got the cheaper ones from B&Q (but not the cheapest as didn't like the shape) and then put some good quality taps on and the look just as good as stuff much more expensive. The advice we got for the bath was if you are buying acrilic spend a bit more. The difference in price is normally the thickness of the bath. Thicker is better. If you go to the diy shops where they are standing up to collect you can see it. As for fitting a new bath get it in place then fill it with water before final adjustment and putting the sealant on. Hope that helps.0

Good morning: source your sanitaryware from a plumbers' merchant...stick with brand names and whoever is fitting the suite will thank you!...a value for money range is the Twyford Alcona ...see also the Ideal Concept

I agree with Mummy Jo. I have found from experience that buying a thicker acrylic bath is a good investment. Where it abuts a wall I always sit it on a 50x50mm frame, also frame up the front edge as well. I certainly do not rely on any inherent stiffness in the bath itself. Since I adopted this method of fixing baths I have had no problems with movement.
I have posed the question myself, about what makes one make of porcelain better quality than another. No one has come up with a satisfactory answer. I doubt whether an ordinary punter could tell. The only ceramic failure that I have ever had was a hairline crack that appeared in one of my toilet cisterns. This was in an expensive cistern, not a cheaper one.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Ideal Standards Concept range offers very good value for money, Have fitted most of there range and the Concept is very good quality, Casting is perfect
Many of the cheaper brands such as ceramica are heavy in weight and thickness but suffer from poor castingHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
