Costa brava help please :)

HI
I've just booked some cheap ryanair flights to Girona Barcelona in July for me and my wee boy (he'll turn 8 on hols woohoo).
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a hotel or resort or both! lol

I've been to lloret de mar about 7 years ago, but that was a girlie drinks/ and sunbathing type hol. I quite liked it tho, and may go back - purely because I feel confident finding my way around there. Would like to find a resort that is not going to cost me an arm and leg in transfers from the airport.

Also does anyone know anything about the local buses from girona airport to the various resorts? Prices/reliabilty etc?

Any help is greatly appreciated
Thank you

I think the easiest places to get to are Tossa de mar, Blanes, Lloret

When I stayed in lloret in 2008 I used resorthoppa for a shuttle transfer as they were pretty cheap and did the job well, check out the website for an idea of prices, will be other transfer companies although probably mostly around the same prices

Stayed in the Aquarium hotel half board, 4 star, was really nice, 5 mins walk from Fenals beach, 5-10 from lloret beach.

Met some people staying cheap in AI hotels and they said the food was really poor so make sure you check reviews on tripadvisor

Tossa de mar beach is shingle, Blanes has the best beach out of those really imo, decent sand.

The waterpark outside lloret was pretty good and worth a visit

All those resorts are close to eachother and boat trips can take you from town to town

Was going to go back this year just for 5 nights on a cheap trip but opted for Majorca this year just for a change, I think in 08 our ryanair flights came to £170 for 2 adults, transfer total £38, Hotel halfboard £180 for 5 nights. Total of just under £200 each

Check out info on those 3 areas anyway and see what takes your fancy the most, Tossa is a really nice place with some great views but I wasnt a fan of the beach there, Llorets cool as you can go to Fenals beach or Llorets, Fenals is quieter, or you have Blanes. I looked at going further a field this year from Girona airport and found it was costing a fair bit in transfers to get further up the coast to places like Roses. Happy searching

Hi, sorry for the highjack, but is this barcelona airport you are talking about? if so, then can you fly there then get to one of the popular resorts? Barcelona is seeming like my only option with airmiles as all the popular resorts are booked up, so could i fly to barcelona then get to one of these places? how long would it take? sorry i am a bit dumb on all this (and terrible at geography)
Everyone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p

    Hi,
Theres 2 airports I believe, GRO stands for Girona/Barcelona (the better airport to fly into when then going onto the coast) or BAR Barcelona

Can you do GRO Girona on your airmiles

No bother at all. Train line starts at Barcelona airport. Easy to use and cheap. Most journeys to the resorts involve one change, but for Lloret and Tossa you catch the link bus at the last station.

Buses run from the airport to the resorts about every two hours with a charge of about 8 euro. Taxis have gone up a lot in recent years - about 55 euro to Lloret. but that is not bad if there area few of you. When I have gone alone I have often managed to share a taxi if I have just missed a bus. Take care with a hoppa - sometimes they really go around the whole area and it can takes hours if you are unlucky to be last.

Take care with buses to the less popular resorts like Pineda as the buses can be a lot less frequent than the buses to Lloret.

Thanks all, i dont think i can go to girona with airmiles. I did look on resort hoppa and from barcelona to lloret was £22 pp return. is that good, or would we be better getting a train/bus when we get there?

Personally, I would just take the train and bus. It will be loads cheaper (I am guessing at about 5 euro) and the train journey is actually good fun as for much of the way the line runs only yards from the sea. It takes about an hour and a half, but the hoppa might take even longer depending upon your drop off point etc.

Here's a link but there are many more on the net:

There are actually THREE airports – Girona (GRO), Reus (REU) and Barcelona (BCN). ;)

You can find information on bus links on Girona Airport's website:

thank you for all your help. I've managed to get booked into a hotel in lloret for £300 for a week half board, for the two of us which is fab. Its about 100m from the bus station so i'll just get the local bus from the airport.
    More questions now Im afraid.....
Has any been to the waterpark recently? I was there 8 years ish, ago and it was ok, not great tho. I've checked the prices and it seems dead expensive for what it is?
Also gnome land?!?! !!!!!!?? any good?? lol
    thank you :)
