its just a posh type of sofabed.

a day bed is the same as a normal bed, but instead of just having a head and foot board, its enclosed on 3 sides
it supposed to give the look of a plush sofa, but with the practicalities of a bed - its also suitable for everyday use, whereas a sofabed should only be for occasional use - it is not more expensive or uncomfortable (ormus), seeing as it has a proper mattress on it - however, have you looked in Ikea, as they sell ones very similar to the John Lewis one, but at a fraction of the price

tbh, she will soon get fed up of re-arranging the cushions that you invariably buy to make the back of it look more like a sofa (rather than an oversized cot), and you just end up with them piled at the foot of the bed, or on the floor

It's a single bed that is designed so that you can put cushions around the back and sides to use it as a sofa during the day.0
