Connection speed

Hi just a quickie

over the last 3 days i have ran a connection speed test and got these back

3.12Mbps download
1.53Mbps download
2.97Mbps download

and 0.33 upload speed
0.33 upload speed
0.32 upload speed

No my phone phone line supports up to 4meg and my supplier can offer upto 8meg which i know i cant get due to my line only supporting 4meg
so i guess my question is whay Meg am i getting is 3.12 just over 3MEG???
also on my belkin wireless connection says my speed is 54Mbps so confused now. just want to know if its worth complaining to my ISP if im not getting what i should be

    Yes.

    The 54mbps is the wireless connection speed between your router and computer.
    Move along, nothing to see.

    Broadband speeds via a phone line will be dependent how far you are from your exchange. The further you are - the slower the speeds. The speeds are advertised by your ISP as being UP TO 4meg. Also, the servers that you are downloading from will play a part in what d/load speeds you get. If those servers for example are are overloading or don't have a very good "connection" at their end, you may notice slower speeds.

    The 54mbps is the max bandwidth supported by the wireless standard 802.11g. It is the maximum speed that your hardware supports when sending data wirelessly over your internal network. It is not directly related to your incoming connection.
