    try Freecycle for paving stones,even broken ones,old carpet and timber for raised beds.

    Just check first if you are allowed carpet on your site. I know we aren't. And bear in mind what experienced allotmenteers have said on here....... the carpet gets very heavy and messy to lift once it has a load of wet soil stuck to the bottom. Certainly put me off even if we were allowed to use it.

    I used bark chippings for mine. I got in touch with a local tree surgeon who had a mountain of them in his yard and let me take a few sacks away for free.
