Slightly off topic, but why does your father in law want to cancel the contract?
Of course you do not have to tell us that, but it might help people decide whether they do want to deal with this company or not.
Most companies seem to take there time doing refunds, and this company appears to be no different.
Are you not being a bit heavy handed? As you say, maybe they made a mistake with the unsigned cheque.
Would you consider a phone call appropriate? I would and I imagine a court would think a simple phone call might have resolved the unsigned cheque issue quite quickly.0 -
I would also question why you have not called them - you are making things overly complicated.Gone ... or have I?0

Ah...He felt pressured into signing on the day. 3 phone call were made to the company before I even considered writing at all. It was pointless - they were rude and told him he could not cancel at all. The only reason I got involved was because he felt he could not deal with it himself.
You didn't tell us that.

It would still be reasonable to call them. You set out assuming the worst of this company, and have continued to do so. This has probably got their backs up also. If you get no joy out of the phonecall, then write to them one more time. However I can't help but feel this could have been resolved much more amicably.Gone ... or have I?0
