I know there's a big wedding forum (I've spent a week reading it:eek: ) but I was hoping for some local knowledge too.

I'm looking for a reasonably priced wedding photographer (recommended preferably) and ideas for where to get bargainous wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses etc.

I've kind of got the idea for the chains that I can visit - I was hoping someone could tell me of a wonderful little shop in their village....

I live in Cardiff and will happily travel an hour or so for a bargain.

Many thanks,
Jiblets1

    hi

lol i just put a recommendation of a photographer on the wedding tips thread ! we used pendragon photography , £700 package inc video http://www.pendragonuk.co.uk/offer.asp

for dresses try my friend vanessa @ cariad bridal in pontarddulais http://www.cariadbridal.co.uk/ its worth the drive as she is on average £200 cheaper for the same gowns as the stores in cardifff / swansea !!!

i got my wedding dress shipped over from the USA as it meant a saving of £500 !!! and had my BM dress made by my mums friend, flower girl dresses were off the peg in BHS :)

    nice BM dresses here https://www.jewlz.co.uk

dont forget most bridal shops will have sales on now / after the summer so keep a look out :)

Hi, if you don't mind second-hand gowns, I just saw a whole lot of quite newish brides and bridesmaid's gowns (decent designs too, not those big puffy sleeves and horribly old fashion type) in one of the charity shops on Albany road in Cardiff... sorry can't remember which one though! prices were very good (vaguely remember a nice elegant bridal gown for abt 100 quid) I even tried on a bridesmaid one as I'm going to be one in oct, but no luck, didn't fit me. happy shopping for gowns! :-)
  • When I went looking around with my sister she found a place in Pencoed i think it was Celtic brides it was on an industrial estate....but loads of dresses and accessories they had the one she wanted a maggie sotterro one a few hundred pound less than in cardiff ( one near haha bar)....saying that she ended up havin it from the one in cardiff as they price matched!!So worth doin a bit of haggling too!

just remembered alison jayne is the one in cardiff!
Had mine from david morgan but shut now. Also they had a few gorgeous ones in monsoon in swansea a while back.
    £900 towards next holiday...ta very much Mr T x

  • Noticed from another thread you are from Tonyrefail, we used Billy Stock from Tonyrefail for our daughters wedding last year, quite reasonable, he usally advertises in the local paper, if i can find it will post back.

Are you looking for a new or worn dress, sometimes you can get a bargain in the free ads.
  • Also - Debenhams Debut range of evening/prom/bridesmaid dresses usually cost under £100

I've actually found my wedding dress now, but I'm still looking for bridesmaids dresses. I'm happy for my bridesmaids to have different dresses as long as they are tied together by colour/skirt shape or something.

My SIL bought her dress from http://www.weddingbellesofpyle.co.uk/, really well priced and lovely girls in the shop, it's on an industrial estate and loks a bit grubby from the outside, but is really big inside and they've got a huge selection of Wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and mother of bride dresses.

Depending on when your wedding is, my photographer may be back from aboard, she was fantastic, but dpesn't have a website or anything available to view at the moment, if you want more infro, PM me.
Hope you have a fab time organising your wedding
