I'm going to be very vague and im really sorry about it!
I'm wanting to book a week holiday in a cottage in the UK - Ideally South or midlands - dont want to spend over £300 for the week - 2 adults.
Anyone suggest anywhere to go (sorry for vagueness!) must have car parking - never been away ina cottage before so dont know what i need etc :-/

You'll get more for your money if you look to stay somewhere that's not in prime tourist area ie not on coast or in the key places like Cotswolds, Exmoor etc. If you stay slightly away and are prepared to drive out you can get a cheaper cottage...it's often the locaton that dictates the price as much if not more than the property itself.
What time of year are you thinking of going? I was thinking of getting a cottage with OH during the summer but would have struggled to get much in that price range...though that was using a company I've used many times before and not really searching properly. You can probably find a better deal looking for one that's privately advertised.
Many cottages now include heating etc but be careful as some do still either put a cover payment on top or have a coin/card operated meter for gas/electricity, which will obviously add to the cost. Most places include bedding etc but occasionally you can find more basic accommodation if you take your own stuff with you. If you use a site like Welcome Cottages or Holiday Cottages, each property description will usually state what's available for partking - if you find a smaller ad (newspapers can be good sources) you can always phone and ask.
If you want to search online you will get tons of sites - personally I would look for reviews though I've had loads of UK cottage holidays and never yet had a problem. It sounds like you're not too fussy in terms of exactly where you want to go so that gives you more scope. Good luck

You'll get better value in Wales than Cornwall for example. You should be able to get something for under £300 although beware of school holiday dates as prices go up. You could also look at cottages that accomodate more than 2 but give a 2 person discount. You can usually find a good deal if you wait until the week before going, if you can hold your nerve, but this is more difficult in holiday weeks.
Just type in cottages into google and you'll get a million to consider
A really good place for walks(depending on energy levels), and not many people go there is around Much Wenlock in ShropshireJustice for the 96 YNWA

on a similar note i'd recommend church stretton in shropshire - you have the long mynd and carding mill valley on the door step for some fab walks plus places like Shrewsbury and Ludlow for a nice day out.
Just had a quick google and the first one looks ideal.

Sometimes I'm a bit loathe to promote Shropshire, I like the fact that not many people go there:)Justice for the 96 YNWA
