  • There is a train almost every hour direct from Manchester Airport to Blackpool North station - check out https://www.thetrainline.co.uk for timetables, prices etc.

Also there are regular trains and buses from Manchester and Liverpool city centres although you would have to get a train or bus into the city centre first so I would say the Manchester Airport train is the best bet.
  • Could you take the ferry ?
You can get a ferry from larne to Fleetwood, then take the tram straight into Blackpool.

You don't have to take a car on the ferry, do you?

In fact, if you did you would have problems with the rest of Captainbeaker's suggestion... "then take the tram straight into Blackpool".

Transfers at Manchester Airport are very good - there's a bus link to the train station. I think if you book your train in advance you'll probably pay less. Might be worth building in some extra time in case you're a bit late so that you can book your seats in advance. You can use the extra time to eat or else grab some sandwiches if you're running late.

ETA: Here's a train website that goes that route. http://www.tpexpress.co.uk/train-tickets-and-rail-offers/index.htm
