Help! Alliance and Leicester ISA this year

Hi
I opened an Alliance and Leicester flexible ISA on Tuesday in the branch. I have tried to transfer my £3600 into my ISA account so it reaches my account before the 5th April. However when trying to make the transfer it has said that it is for a company and so I can't make a payment to a person with that account number and roll number. I have an unusual looking account number which consists of 8 identical digits. What do I need to make a transfer?? Is this normal practice for Alliance and Leicester as it is a building society? I am also stuck as it's now the bank holiday. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you so much.

Hi. Normally to transfer money you need 3 things. The name of the account(or personal details of account), account number & sort code. I think you are missing sort code. Also alliance& leicester are a bank. Get on to them for details. My thoughts you have left it to late.:rotfl:0

I have had an online savings account previously that tells you to use account number 00000000 when transferring to it from another bank - the further account number/roll number/reference however must be quoted as the transfer reference (where you might normally write a note to jog your memory like 'money to mum)'. You should call them and ask though!
I wouldn't have thought this sort of transfer would be completed on the same day so I also suspect you are too late with no working days left this tax year.0 -
Hi thanks for your replies. I will ring A&L and ask. I think I will write a cheque and put it in on Saturday. Thanks again for your help

You are too late to deposit cheques or bank transfer as it won't clear in time before the 5th April. The last date to deposit money this year in time to reach the account was yesterday, 1st April. Your only option would be to deposit cash via a branch TODAY.0

A cheque paid in tomorrow would still count - they are counted from the day that they are paid in, not the date that they clear.
Depending on the bank, a Faster Payment/Internal Transfer anytime until Monday could still count.0 -
Thanks rb10. The staff at A&L also told me this so I think it is my best option to guarantee it.0
