Post Office Savings!!

I'm livid!!
I applied for a new, joint post office savings account, high interest, instant access. I was sent the acccount number and sort code, and asked to send by return a cheque to get the account operational.
This I did in May. The cheque (£1000) was cashed by them on June 12th.
In early July, we telephoned to query why we had received no acknowedgement from them. It turned out the money had been put into a holding account!
They confirmed they would get it into our account within 10 working days and send us the paperwork.
We telephoned 10 days later after receiving nothing, to find it was still in the holding account. The 'jumped up' customer service person, said he only had our word to go on that the cheque had been cashed, so at this point we stated we wanted our money back and the account closed. This, he said would be done in 10 days.
We've just telephoned now, to see why we haven't received it yet, and are now being told it will take up to 21 days. It's gonna take up to 48 hours for the manager to ring us, and my, is he going to get a mouthful when he does.

This account boasts that it pays immediate high interest, but the !!!!!!s will have had nearly 3 months interest on this money, by the time it's all been sorted!!

I'm going to ring/ write to Postwatch immediately. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Make sure that you 'request' this interest back from them, at the rate you applied for.

Definitely will be requesting it, in no uncertain terms. Yet to receive a phone call from the manager, so will be probably ringing them again on Monday for another rant.

Make sure you request suitable remuneration for the phone calls too. I'd be writing a letter to the biggest cheese I could find by now.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
