New p & p rules ??

I have listed some items tonight that cost £9.00 to post insured and signed for but ebay want to call the shots and want me to list postage under 4 pounds. I have had to inc the postage cost in the listing. Surely this can't be right, I know how much the postage should be ??? Anyone else found this ???

  • Yup unfortunately it came about i believe just last friday - are you listing clothes or the likes? I purposely listed all my kiddie bundles last week to try and get around it as postage was at least £15 per bundle.

Now you have to offer your first postage at £4 or under, and the others at what you please. I did complain as i was due to list the bundles and the reply i got was 'offer cheap postage without tracking' why they tell you to do this pees me off as then you sucker yourself into the risk of the buyer saying it didn't arrive - money and item lost. And the other response was 'raise your start price' - of course they want you to this so they can make more money from your insertion fees.

It's all a bit carp to be honest - if the items worth selling go for it, if not i wouldn't bother anymore...just as it's getting expensive to list and you run the risk of it being unsold to which you lose money. Just my opinion though!

    Good luck! x

I listed a jacket, they go for over £100 so I send them insured etc . Ebay are not making it easier for sellers doing this as I had to mention postage in the listing and hopefully be able to add on at the end of the sale ??

How do I get the correct postage amount then ?? As I say the item will go for over £100, it may go overseas, if so I adjust postage rate, but if not it needs to be insured ??

you can add for overseas sales
if the item goes for £100 you need insurance
so you need to key those costs into your start price

You add it onto your start price. If it's going to go for over £100 I'm sure you can manage to pay 15p. :p

I think you will only be able to up the price by the same amout as the stated postage anyway, so +£4 in this case.
If the buyer is quicker than you then they will only pay the stated postage, and there is not much you can do about it.

Some buyers target sellers who do this as it is seen to be abuse of the system.
They'll then leave non positive feedback and or low DSR (star) ratings.

Most buyers just avoid though, so you'll get a lower price (probably lower than the extra few quid you'll pay out.)
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p
