Barclays Travel Ins. Pay for 14 days get 12 months cover (plus £8 Quidco cash!)

Options
Barclay’s Travel Insurance offers a 10% online discount along with a great consumer offer. Currently when travellers purchase a 14+ day single trip policy Barclay’s will upgrade them to an annual policy for the same price. Barclay’s Travel Insurance is also quick and easy, giving customers: · 24 hour Travel Assistant Helpline · Up to £30,000 Personal Accident Cover · Up to £2 million Personal Public Liability · Up to £10 million medical expenses

£8 cashback through Quidco as well. Looks like a good offer to me (although I haven't gone for it as we've already taken out insurance for our hols at the end of August).

Edit: Just tried it out for a quote and for a 14 day holiday in Europe for me, Mrs Clasics and our 2 sons (14 and 16) it comes to £47 for the online exclusive Economy Travel. Remember, that's the price for a full 12 months cover! Take off the £8 Quidco cashback and it comes in at £39!

T&C's state (don't know if you could get away with it):

Offer only available when you buy a minimum of 14 days single trip travel insurance. A single trip is defined as up to 31 days and up to 21 days for a policy with winter-sports. The single trip cover purchased must be for the full duration of the initial single trip and the premium charged will be for the actual number of days cover required for that initial trip
  • I've just spoke to Barclays as we are only going away for 10 days and they told me to add an extra 4 days on the end when booking, which I have done and qualified for the annual insurance offer...

I've never bought travel insurance before so hope I've done everything right and I've used Quidco for the first time too... Will just wait and see as def don't have the patience to read evrything on thier site and couldn't find a quick help guide on here unless someone will be kind enough to point me in the right direction?

Partner & I, both under 35, 10 days in New York... I took a quote from M&S on Monday and thier annual policy was £101 and direct line single trip policy was £70, Annual policy from barclays was £52... so I'm very happy, and hopefully I've done everything right! Thanks Clasics...

Good offer, but be aware if you upgrade to the annual cover it will start the day you take out the insurance, not the day you intend to travel (and 365 days thereafter).

I was going to get insurance for a trip later this year, assuming the annual insurance would start then aswell (giving me cover for next year aswell), but reading the T&C it would start now, not when im travelling.

Just something to bear in mind. :)

I looked at this offer, three things happened
    1) The price of 2 weeks to the US for my family was more expensive than the annual policy anyway
    2) By default the price quoted did not include baggage cover (I would have thought a fundamental part of most policies) and the price went up more when included.
    3) I get annaul travel insurance from insure and go - worldwide, including winter sports and with an excess waiver for about 115 pa for my family - the barclays equivalent cover was going to be £280 (either for an annual policy or for 2 weeks) and that was with a 50 excess that could not be waved.

I would say check for the cover you need but probably AVOID
    I think....

The initial price does not include baggage cover. When you add the baggage cover it comes to over £60 for a family of 4 which is dearer than I was quoted from Boots for annual cover.

So the offer should really be "Buy 2 weeks insurance and we will rip you off and charge you the same a the annual charge whether you need it or not"

Slightly harsh comment IMHO. Just added baggage cover on the Barclays quote and it comes to £62 (£54 when the £8 Quidco is taken into account). Tried the Boots one and came to £79.00 and no cashback. Ultimately, no matter how the separate companies 'wrap it up' in ad speak, surely the bottom line is how much you have to pay? Oh, forgot to say, LOADS of searching medical questions with Boots as well so if you have a history of medical problems you may get an even higher bill....

If you have a Barclays Additions Plus bank account you get the annual family worldwide travel insurance included as well as total protection Green Flag Breakdown cover and lots of other little freebies.
    It's £13 a month* so won't suit everybody.

*not making any claims whether the bank account is worth the dosh though..
