Revamping kitchen CHEAPLY!!

Not sure if I've posted this is the right bit so apologises if that's the case.
Anyway, my kitchen's really looking tired and I would love a new one, but that's not going to happen unless the lottery comes up this weekend, so I thought I'd revamp it.
The doors are solid Acacia wood and are lovely I'm just sick of looking at them after about 11 years. I thought I'd paint them cream so has anyone got ideas on which paint would look and last best and how I'd go about it.
I thought I could change the worktops, kickboards, cornice and plinths to beech and that would hopefully give it an update and not cost the earth.
Where's the best place to get these bits or am I just as well going to MFI/B&Q? :T

Hi Megabusymum,
Not being cheeky, but i'd ask a MOD too put this in My home thread which includes DIY and you'll get some good pro's advice.
HTHBut first, the most asked question:
Q "Is anything worn under your kilt???"
A "No. Everything is in perfect working order Thank You!!."0 -
cupboards fronts are not that expensive to buy. i'd look into that0

Well.........I'm not a MOD or a rocker.;) However, I am a board guide so I will move this thread over to the 'In my home' board.:D
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email !!!!!!.
Kind Regards

Hi, new unit fronts on their own are far cheaper than with the carcasses or if you are really looking to keep the costs down, try Ronseal paint & grain - you basically paint the doors & drawer fronts, then use the graining tool to get a finish. Failing that, have a minor chip pan fire and claim a new kitchen off your insurance!

***Board Guide Note***
I hope that the previous poster's final sentence was 'tongue in cheek'? We can't condone members giving dangerous advice or insurance fraud suggestions on the MSE site.

You can buy all the individual bits and pieces very reasonably at Ikea.0

B+Q Sell door fronts quite cheaply0

Door fronts, yes, but not handles. You'll end up paying £7 each in B&Q. Try http://www.diy-kitchens.com for cheap door fronts.

Handles can be quite cheap in B+Q when i did my kitchen up the handles were £4.99 each or you could buy a pack of 10 for £12.99 !0
