Clydesdale Bank

I have been trying to get a refund on my ppi I have on my car loan it is in the amount of over 6000 pounds. Clydesdale bank has been telling me that I have to get a new loan in order to get rid of the ppi. When I went in and tried to re-finanace the loan I was lead to believe that I may not get approved. The loan officer gave alot of attitude. Well wrote a letter to them and complained giving them detailed information of being missold of which they responded by saying that they didn't believe that the loan had been missold and that I could take it up with the FOS. I have heard it takes months to a year to get an answer and have yet to fill out the paperwork. Well the other day I was by clydesdale and went in and asked to speak to someone and the girl behind the desk proceeded to give me a form I could fill out in order to cancel the PPI and get a refund on my loan of the amount of PPI remaining. I proceeded to ask the girl behind the girl about this and she said this was the first time she heard of this form today. I am now being told to wait 7 days and I should recieve a letter. Anyone have any luck with Clydesdale? If they rebate part of the ppi then where do I go to get the rest of the money paid? Should I go through the bank again to see if there has been any change or should I just go through the FOS?

Hi there
You could wait for the 7 days, but in regards of reclaiming, personally I would have put this into writing and request to cancel the same time, they do have 8 weeks in full to respond, if they ignore you can take it to the FOS, or if they do not resolve in your favour also move on to the FOS, some banks give the opportunity to write back with further information.
The FOS requests they have a copy of the final response before they can investigate.
No harm in contacting them in 7 days if you don't hear and take it from there.

Heard from Clydesdale got a letter about cancelling my ppi. They are willing to cancel the remaining amount of which is only around 1300. They told me that if I sign the papers I wll be only entitled to a rebate of the pi for the remaining term of the loan. Does that mean if I sign the paper I will not be able to claim a rebate on the amount already paid. I am needing some advice is there anyone I can call? Does the FOS has a number I can call for advice?0

DON'T DO IT. Clydesdale Bank are very sneeky. I had to deal with them to get £1300 back in bank charges for my mum and dad. They refused all along and waited until four days before Christmas and sent a cheque for £500 and said full and final settlment. My mum wanted to cash the cheque for obvious reasons. I spoiled the cheque and returned it.
She did get her £1300 not that long after. I HATE that bank. Please proceed with your original complaint. I think you will be fine. Let us know how you get on.0 -

Hi there
Did you also put in a letter to reclaim the ppi on the grounds of being mis sold, or just to cancel?
When you reclaim, and if successful they should refund all you have paid in PPI and interest etc, if you just request to cancel, they may only rebate so much (if not complained of being mis sold), apologies if I have mis read.
But if you do want to contact the FOS the details are here:

Please note that the FOS office should now be open on Tuesday after the Bank holiday.
Good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hello.
Thanx for the info. No PPI was involved. It was more just to give an example of that particular bank. Backward so they are.
Thanx again.0 -
We put in a complaint to Clydesdale about the ppi being mis sold and they sent us a letter after 8 weeks or so saying that they had reviewed the information and did not think it was mis- sold. They actually referred us FOS if we werent happy.0

Hi eden,
They done exactly the same to me, but I felt so dejected afterwards didn't take it FOS meant to but never got round to it.
It seems that is their standard resposnse to everyone. go to the FOS.Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -
Go to FOS eden.
Smitchy there may be some good news for you because the FSA has told firms to review cases they have rejected. They are still sorting out the details and it will probably be 2-3 months before things crank into action but keep an eye on it.
You only need to complete the form and send it off.0 -
Hi magpie,
yeah I had read that somewhere a few weeks ago and checked on another thread about it, have written a letter to go out in the post on Tuesday to the lender(CB) to see what their reaction is, if it's still a no from them, I'll go back to the FOS/FSA for definate this time.
Cheers magpieThanks to all the competition posters.0
