Laptop internal hard-drive

Hi all, i wan2 change my Dell Inspiron 1501 hard-drive. I would like a hard-drive under £100 (preferably about 500gb or more) where I could buy from a shop. Anyone recommend a place? It's gotta be SATA-150.
My advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.

May I ask why you want to change the internal HDD? Has it died?

If not, I would suggest that you save yourself £20 and buy yourself an external 1.5Tb HDD for £79.99

i have 10-15 year old drives that are still going strong. One even survived a power surge which killed the rest of the computer.

If it starts to fail, i'm sure that one of the various HDD diagnostic tools will allow you to find out what the problem is.

I would also like to buy a new drive to upgrade my memory capacity too!

This is probably the best deal at the moment:

You will need to install Windows again from disk or you can clone the existing drive over to the new one before you install it.

If the drives fine then its fine and will last some more. There are diagnostics software for drives, ie SpinRite from grc.com. This can be run say quarterly and the drive given the all clear. A bigger drive is not the answer , just more to drive space to manage and higher back up requirements. This does not increase your memory capacity either, you need more RAM to do that. When you say "shop" you do not give your location, so I cannot suggest anyone. If you mean online then try scan or overclockers or your local Sunday computer fair.
