Thinking of switching to the above as it seems to allow me to operate the account by me inputting monthly meter readings and they then calculate the bill and take money by DD.
Does anyone know what happens if you are away for a month and unable to put a reading in???

Hi parcival - if you miss a month, it'll just estimate you for that month. If you are on a variable direct debit, this could mean that for that one month you pay a little too much or a little too little (based on whether the estimate is too low or to high), but as it's a monthly account it's much better to have one estimate than a quarterly account! If you realise you've been over/under charged, you can always just catch up with the next bill by making sure a meter reading is put in. If you are on a fixed direct debit (e.g., you always pay £50 per month), then it'll estimate and just take your £50 as normal.0

I missed one reading by a week, they estimated but then I take weekly readings and submit so their estimate was really accurate. I'm on fixed DD so I knew I had enough in the pot to cover whatever was charged.0
