Parcelforce Inconvenience.

Arrrghhhh! Parcelforce are terrible. I missed a parcel. They put a card put through the door saying they had taken my parcel to some random post office on the outskirts of the city which will take me a 40 minute walk to go collect it.

On their website it says "If the first attempt is unsuccessful, we will leave you a card informing you where the item has been taken. You may either collect the item from the location advised or contact us to arrange redelivery". So I filled in their online form for it to be delivered to the actual Parcelforce depot as this is only a 15 mins to walk and I have to walk past it anyway when going into the city centre.

I later received a voicemail telling me that they had recieved my re-delivery request but I had to go collect it from the post office and I had a certain amount of time to do so...I am assuming that if I don't they will then return my parcel to the sender >:(

So they are either lying to customers or their customer service sucks immensely.

If you call the depot (the number is on the card) and tell them that you are unable to get to the Post Office, they will get the driver to retrieve it and redeliver (to your own or an alternate address). They are obliged to do this, as their contract with the sender will be for delivery to the address on the parcel.

Just for info - the 'Convenient Delivery' facility works really well and most customers find it, well, convenient. However, as with all things, the human element can screw things up. The amount of undeliverable parcels taken to a local PO is a key target for all PF depots, and if the driver is self-employed they get paid for a parcel delivered to a PO but not for parcels taken back to the depot.

I had a "you were out" card shoved through my letterbox - while I was sitting only a few feet away from the door! No knock or ring on the bell.

When I later collected it from the post office I asked why the driver didn't knock and she said there was a problem as he wasn't knocking/ringing and I should complain.

I suppose the round can be finished quicker if you attempt to actually deliver half and for the other half you just quietly shove cards through the door and dump the parcels at the post offices. Get finished for the day faster that way.

Sagalout - while I've never understood the practice myself, it does sometimes seem as though some drivers will do anything for an easy life. It doesn't take long to deliver a parcel if the person is in, and it is what we are paid for! This is definitely something I would complain about, especially in light of what the PO staff said. I've covered a few routes where the regular driver was a bit too fond of taking stuff to the PO instead of delivering it.

I shouldn't have to waste money to call them. I have already informed them twice via their online system that I would like my parcel delivered to me either at my local postoffice that is close to me or at the their local depot. As a result I have received two voicemail messages telling me to pick it up at the post office I asked it to be redelivered from.

I'm going to complain to the company who sent me my parcel and tell them that Parcelforce are failing to honour their contract to deliver the parcel I was sent and fails to provide on good customer service :(

Yep, that should work. Any delivery company is more likely to listen to their customer (the retailer) than to the end consumer.

Lol your parcelforce problem reminded me of a pic I saw a while ago. I would post the pic but it is quite large so here is a link:

    :T lol
Someone just needs to photoshop "Parcelforce" on the van and change the title to "Delivering a Parcelforce Package" and it would be pretty much spot on :rotfl:

They do the same around here as well. Take it to the Post Office furthest away from me in the town rather than the depot which is closer.

It's insane. Parcelforce have always been a bit rubbish and both myself and my friends have often shared tales of lost parcel woe but this has just been laughably bad. Now even if your parcel does manage to arrive...it still doesn't manage to arrive >.<

I may have to start checking to see who is going to be delivering things when I buy them online in future. It might be worth paying a couple of quid extra for something rather than using a company that uses Farcelforce xD
