I've just bent one on the handles on my loppers so they need replacing. I want my new ones to be able to deal with relatively thick branches & be able to withstand the force that'll be put on them without the cutters or handles bending.
What are the differences betweeen Anvil, Bypass & Ratchet loppers & does anyone have a suggestion as to which I should go for?
TIA

I find the Wilkinson Powergear loppers very good at thick stuff. I think you will have to pay about £35 unless you can find them on offer.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0

I've just browsed through this guide which seems to have explained a lot;

It was a pair of anvil loppers that I've bent so that's what I'm after. Does anyone have any experience with ratchet anvil loppers?0 -
I bought some from gardena see here http://www.worldofwatering.co.uk/submenu/Gardena%20Garden%20Tools/Gardena%20Loppers.html
Sorry no good at links. There the telespopic ones on the left. Not sure which type they are but they are brill. I'm amazed at how much abuse I give them and they still cut easily. Not cheap but have been well worth the money for me as I ytend to end up breaking stuff like this, (am a bit heavy handed).
Anyway just thought I'd let you know. (I don't work for the by the way lol )0
