Egg Card

I took out an egg card a couple of years ago, half the year I use it to pay off Christmas with their balance transfer on the anniversary feature. The rest of the year I've used it as my primary credit card and pay the balance off at the end of the month.
The thing I disliked about it when I got it was the ridiculously high credit limit so I reduced it to what I thought was more sensible. Thats one of their online features.
Anyway I had an emergency, needed to spend in a hurry and exceeded the limit I set (still way way below theirs) by £2 for less than 7 days before I cleared the balance as usual at the end of the month.
Guess what, they've charged me £20 for the privelige. They claim their charges reflect their actual costs but I think that is taking the mick. Its really annoyed me, that and the fact I've had a real lack of response from previous complaints on their service - they previously added unwarranted interest charges twice.
I've gone as far as Stage 4 which is threatening legal action before I go any further can I get advice on:
1. I've been told that they will close accounts if you take legal action. As this is a friend of a friend story I wondered if this reflected experience on here?
2. Their charges seem lower than everyone else, closer to what the financial ombudsman seems to recommend. Am I being reasonable?
3. Can I add a charges for my time if I do so? I'm a professional engineer.
