Claiming charges from credit card for taking two dd payments a month causing o/d

Options
Hi can anyone advise me what to do?

I have a DD set up to pay my Barclaycard credit card. They have taken two payments in March; one on 1st the other on 29th, causing my current account to go overdrawn and me to incurr charges of £105. B/Card say there is nothing they can do as its to do with payment cycles and that I get statements so I should have known, they will not accept my arguement that I have set up a monthly DD and don't expect two payments to come out in one month. They initially told me they would refund the fees to my account then told me they wouldn't. Can anyone help please? thanks

Usually with a credit card the direct debit is set up to take the payment on the due date. And unfortunately this isn't the same day each month. I'd push for the refund of fees if you didn't understand this at the time you set up the direct debit and keep an eye on your statements from now on to make sure it doesn't happen again.

In order to collect any money by DD, the originator is required to provide you, the payer, with advance notice detailing how much is to be collected and when. By default this advance notice is 10 working days (plus postal delivery time if appropriate)

If the amount to be collected changes, you must be given this advance notice before each collection. If the amount to be collected is the same, then the initial advance notice can detail the amount and the frequency.

Collection usually takes place on the day specified (but can be up to 3 working days later ... but no earlier than the day specified)

If you were not provided with required advance notice, you can claim an immediate refund from your bank under the terms of the DD Guarantee. Also ask them to make a claim for consequential loss (i.e. bank charges) if applicable - these will be payable once the bank gets them from the originator.

If you were given the advance notice, and barclaycard appear to say they gave it you on the bill, then you should have known the collection was to be made.

You cannot set up a monthly DDI, like you cannot set up a fixed amount DDI. The DDI is variable in the amounts and dates/frequency of collection.
(Some DDIs have an originator's official use only box which sometimes allows the payer to nominate the desired pay date - but that box does not form part of the instruction to your bank and is clearly marked accordingly)

What premier is saying is to check your credit card bill and the date on there.(apologies but I just don't read ALL of your long posts). If the answer is that the dates are different then read the Full Premier post ;)
